On December 31, 2022, a Kenyatta University student who had been absent for five days was discovered lifeless at her fiance's home in Kahawa Wendani, Kiambu County.
A student studying public policy and administration named Victoria Muthoni Theuri vanished on Christmas Day, December 25, 2022.
She informed her family, who live in the nearby community of Kahawa Sukari in Kiambu County, that day that she had traveled to see her sister, as per her parents and the investigators.
However, she didn't come back as usual, and her cellphone was out of range.
Victoria's parents claimed that they had phoned her sister to find out if she would be at her house or if she would be returning.
Her sister allegedly stated to the police that she had not seen Victoria. At that point, the parents went to the Kahawa Sukari Police Station and reported the event.
Victoria had issues with her family, according to other authorities, but she had never vanished before.
Worse yet, she was still enrolled in school when she reportedly became pregnant with a man her parents didn’t even know.
Although her pregnancy had severely challenged her relationship with her parents, she continued to live at home in an affluent neighborhood and attend school, as she had committed to doing.
She regularly spent moments at her fiance's apartment in Alvo House before returning home after school, according to the police.
Additionally, as her family was seeking her, nearby people started smelling something awful coming from one of the closed units.
The guy who lives there was absent, and the neighbour commented, "We felt it weird that there was a terrible odor emanating from the room."
On December 29, police arrived at the residence and used welders to break down the door. They discovered Victoria's carcass in the living room with no obvious injuries.
Authorities believe she passed away at least three days ago.
Victoria's lover who left to rural was found and taken into custody. He was brought to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) office in the Ruiru subcounty to answer questions.
On Christmas Day, the lover claimed to have left Victoria at his house and gone to visit his parents.
Police are still trying to determine how the university student died.
