Man Kills His Five Children And Two Other Members Of His Family After Wife Filed For Divorce

According to police statement; a suspected 42 year old took his own life after killing seven other members of his family.

Police in small Utah settlement of Enoch City were notified by friends who were close to the family. They found eight bodies which included five children and three adults.

US officials reported that the killings may have been as a result of a filed divorce by the man's wife. All eight were found in a single family home dead from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. They included his wife, her mother, and the couple's five children. Among the children were three girls and two boys aged between 4 and 17.

"Evidence suggests that the suspect took his own life after killing seven others in the home" statement from city.

Enoch Mayor Geoffrey Chesnut said the killings may have been as a result of an apparent marital breakdown.

"It appears, according to court documents, that a divorce petition was filed on the 21st of December and it was filed by the wife," - Chesnut said.

An investigation into the killings was underway but according to police reports they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the crime.
