Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government has said that Interior CS Kithure Kindiki and Transport CS Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen launched a road safety initiative targeting the reduction of accidents during festive season.
The ministry said the joint activity focuses on cracking down on drunk-driving,speeding,over-loading and delayed removal of stalled vehicles and other traffic offenses.They said the initiative is timed to the festive season that traditionally witnesses a rise in road accidents blamed on more vehicles on the road,motorists' use of alcohol and drug and drivers fatique among other causes.
Interior Ministry said the cabinet secretary Kithure Kindiki has directed National Government Administration Officers-NGAOS to intensify crackdown on the production,sale and consumption of illicit alcohol that is linked to traffic accidents, sexual abuse and violence against minors.The ministry said that the launched was also attended by PSs Raymond Omollo ministry of interior,Mohamed Dagar ministry of transport and Joseph Mbugua ministry of roads.
