Rituals Elders Will do to Masten Wanjala's Body Before Burying Him at The River Bank

The family of serial killer Masten Wanjala had disowned him and were not willing to give him a decent burial as that would amount to 'welcoming evil spirit' in the homestead. Elders related to the family has now resolved that they will bury him at the river bank.

Speaking to the press, one of the elders, Isaac Misiko, the body will be buried in the dead of the night in accordance with Bukusu tradition for those who are deemed a disgrace to the community. He added that they will have to perform rituals before the burial to avert evil spirits.

“Someone will go to the home and engage the deceased in a 'conversation' and splash concoctions meant to cleanse the home and family members,” he said, adding that whoever performs the ritual will be awarded a bull and will have to walk away without looking back when leaving the compound.
