The streets of Nairobi may not be friendly as one may think. It is filled with conmen, pickpockets, thieves, robbers and corrupt police officers all behaving in a friendly way.
At one time, you would witness a gang of thieves shamelessly harassing and robbing an innocent passerby. They may do this successfully without anyone coming in to help the victim of the robbery. After the incident, business goes as usual.
Police officers and The town council officers have the tendency of harrasing and arresting hawkers and street vendors. Their presence often creates a stampede that victimizes innocent passers by. At times one may be arrested for claims of being a vendor in the stampede, or injured seriously.
The touts for various passenger vehicles also like harrasing people. In shocking instances, one would be pulled towards different directions with different touts all moving towards their various vehicles. At this point, one is often at the verge of losing his property
