Two armed thugs were shot dead in a botched robbery incident in Dandora area.
The two men had been mugging and robbing pedestrians when an alarm was raised. It was then that police launched a hunt in the area and caught up with the thugs with the help of residents.
The thugs were shot dead after they defied police orders and attempted to escape aboard their motorcycle.
Following the incident, police recovered part of the stolen property from the slain suspects. The motorcycle, two homemade guns, two empty cartridges and three live bullets were also recovered.
Confirming the incident, Nairobi Police boss said one suspects, Yutman Mgaza, was released from prison in December 2022.
This shooting incident increased the tally of those killed in the war on crime in the city in the past month to close to 20.
Last year, the police released a report listing areas with high crime rates in Nairobi and advising Nairobians on how to avoid snatchers.
