Two wash wash men posing as Congo-based gold baron arrested with crushed padlocks disguised as gold.

The dyo; Rogers Kipkogei and Collins Chavera, masquerading as genuine agents of a Congo-based gold baron, defrauded gold investor over Sh1 million after selling him the crushed padlocks.

The victim who fall a prey into for the illegal and shoddy business deals, deposited the some cash to various Mpesa numbers, belonging to the suspects.

In what DCI sleuths revealed believe was a well organised deal, several lines from local mobile telecommunications networks and stolen identification cards from different Kenyans were seized from the accused persons’ house in Uthiru, Kiambu county.

Sleuths now suspect that the culprits use the personal credentials from the identification documents, to register the lines which are being used to steal cash from the members of the public via mobile money transactions.

The pair were placed in court on Friday morning and custodial regulations made the sleuths to complete their probes into the illegal and shoddy business deals.
