Suicide as a serious global public health issue that is among the top leading causes of death worldwide.

Residents of Karia-ini village, Murang’a South subcounty, are still reeling in shock after a Kenya Certificate of Primary Education candidate allegedly committed suicide inside their house.
The 13-year-old boy, Fredrick Waweru, was discovered dead by his mother who had returned home from a church service.
The body of Waweru was found dangling from the roof of their house with a bedsheet tied aroused his neck.
On the fateful morning, the distraught mother told him to prepare so that they could go to church, however, Waweru said that he did not feel like going to church.
The hey had breakfast together before his mother went off to do a few chores.

Confirming the incident, area chief disclosed that the deceased did not leave behind a suicide note.
The body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary pending postmortem exercise.
Probe into the incident is underway.
