A Kenyan athletics champion Agnes Tirop was murdered at home. Her body was found in her house and the lover who was staying with her had flown away. The lover therefore became the suspect. Tirop was laid to rest today.
During speeches, several political leaders poured out their hearts. Those who were not able to attend sent representatives with messages. One of them is ODM leader Raila Odinga. Raila could not attend but his speech was read.
However, things were not the same when the representative informed mourners that Raila's speech was to be delivered. All of a sudden, there was murmuring and what looked like rejection noise from the crowd. It took the mercy of the messenger to inform the mourners that the message was for Tirop's family and not political.
The messenger went ahead and read the message amidst noise. Raila in his message described Tirop as a lady whose bright future was cut short. He appealed to the authority to make sure that those involved were aporehended and justice found.
