Cases of misunderstanding between a child and the step family have become so rampant. At some point, you will hear some people saying they cannot visit their other family to avoid misunderstanding. Recent story about brutality in Pangani Nairobi area just caused a stir online. A lady who used to live with her step mother and brothers was brutally beaten. According to "Usikimye" Facebook group the lady was chained. The other family members joined and harassed her. They even went to an extent of plucking her hair. The mother and her sons wanted to pluck eyebrows off but fortunately she managed escaping. Good Samaritans rescued her from the torture. The lady was able to find some place for a night but justice has not been done yet. Anyway, this needs attention. The government needs to look at such families who have lived with fear but no peace.
