"We're So Bitter as Residents of Eldoret, " Eyebrows Raised Over Thefts in Uasin Gishu (Video)

Eldoret residents are now calling upon the County government to open the market places that were closed after the yesterday's saga that saw a group of irate residents break into a supermarket and loot properties worthy millions.

According to the emerging report from KTN TV, the County government of Uasin Gishu closed all businesses in town today with a move to track down the alleged criminals that broke into the supermarket.

The County condemned the act, stating that those who took part in the act, shall be dealt with when the investigations are done and they are brought to books, with the security details stating that, the happening was so strange to have been reported in the County.

While speaking on KTN, one lady asked the operations to be normalised, stating that, the closing of the businesses has affected them amid the current battle with tough economic times.

She stated that there is hunger in the country and within Eldoret, dismissing the move to lock market places where stocks and other foodstuffs were, hinting out that most families depend on those businesses for their children and settling bills.

"We are so bitter as residents of Eldoret town. The market places have been closed and we're suffering. Most women depend on these businesses to provide food to their children and meeting other expenses. It's is unfortunate that we can not work now yet people are sleeping hungry across the Country and our stocks have been locked by the County government, " she bitterly told KTN TV.

On his end, one gentleman, a resident of Eldoret, asked the businesses owners to open and resume. He told them not to be afraid, adding that, they are going to deal with any thief that is going to be caught henceforth.

"Business men open your business and start working. No one is going to come and steal the way it happened yesterday. We're on the watch and we shall arrest and deal with them," he said.
