A form two student at Maranda High School in Siaya County who broke his left leg while playing alongside others in School is finally set for surgery.

17-year-old Collins Omondi broke his leg in School on Wednesday last week, before he was rushed to the Bondo Sub County Hospital.

He needed urgent surgery but that could not be done bacause of the School's policy on medication which allegedly does not address the plight of inpatient students.

The student is a total orpan. His guardian had indicated that they needed Sh90, 000 to facilitate his operation.

However, the student is now set for surgery on Thursday, after Kisumu based human rights activist Boniface Ogutu Akach highlighted his predicarment.

"After being dumped in pain for over 5 days in hospital with only painkillers administered at Bondo Sub cCounty hospital, 17 year old Collins has been scheduled for surgery on Thursday," he confirmed.

"It seems somebody from the hospital may have wanted the money and intentionally and decided to manage information about how insurance would have sorted his predicament," he added.

"Collins has still been asked to buy some items from the chemist that will cost him over 30k. Any financial support can be sent to his uncle on Mpesa via his number +254714640962 (MAURICE ODHIAMBO AMOLLO)."
