A female athlete has been found murdered inside his house in Iten town, Elgeiyo Marakwet County. According to reports, the athlete has been identified as Damaris Muthee Mutua aged 24 years.
The Star reports that the athlete was allegedly killed by her Ethiopian boyfriend who is also an athlete. Unfortunately, the man reportedly escaped out of the country after commiting the heinous act.
Preliminary investigations indicates that the athlete is a Kenyan but until the time of her death she was running for another foreign country.
The body of the athlete was found inside the man's house by neighbours at Lilly's Estate which is at the outskirts of Iten town. The police knew about the incident after they were alerted by her fellow athletes who also received the sad news from the killer. He told them that he had committed murder when he was already out of the country.
Police are currently at the scene of the accident where they have sealed the scene trying to establish the motive behind the killing. Keiyo North police boss Tom Makori is leading a team of detectives who are currently investigating the incident. The incident happened just a few months after Agnes Tirop was killed in the same town.
