Kaburengu Road traffic boss Hassan Olima a car carrying two passengers rammed into a lorry and burst into flames along the busy road claiming two lives on the spot, according to reports seen by the press.
"The car rammed into the lorry and burst into flames as a result of electric fault. It is unfortunate that we lost two lives. We are investigating," Hassan said.
The victims were heading home from work in Westlands, Nairobi County when the accident happened.
Hassan said the main cause of the fire remains unknown.
The bodies of the two men were moved to Kaburengu town hospital mortuary awaiting identification and autopsy.
The burnt vehicles were towed to the opposite side of the road awaiting police inspection.
The driver of the lorry grief stricken with the mysterious incident was rushed to Nairobi hospital for medical treatment after sustaining minor injuries.
