Agnes Tirop Given a Mighty Send off Befitting a Queen (Photos)


Thousands of locals, athletes and coaches brought business to a standstill in Eldoret on Friday while holding a procession for murdered prolific athlete Agnes Tirop.


Former world champions Julius Yego (Javelin), Janeth Jepkosgei (800metres), Milcah Chemos (3000m steeplechase), Eunice Sum (800m), three-time London Marathon champion Mary Keitany led from the front.

Tirop was found dead in her house last week, in what police suspect could be a murder case. She was found lying in a pool of blood with stab wounds.


Her estranged husband Ibrahim Rotich is the main suspect in the murder of Agnes Tirop.

According to verified reports, Tirop will be buried at her parents home in Mosoriot on Saturday, after a Requiem mass is held at Kapnyamisa Primary school on Friday.

Kenyans have continued to call for the speedy investigations into her death.
