A 24-year-old Kenyan nurse based in Canada drowned while swimming and inadvertently live streamed the tragedy on Facebook.
Hellen Wendy Nyabuto, who worked as a nurse in Toronto, was in a jovial mood while interacting with her followers before the tragedy occurred.
She drowned at around Minute Ten of the livestream, but her phone, which had been placed on the edge of the swimming pool, continued to record for another three hours.
Her body was discovered almost three hours later by two men who appeared to have had access to the said swimming pool.
The father of Hellen, Mr Nyabuto, has confirmed her death. He said that his daughter relocated to Canada in December 2019 after securing a 10-year study visa.
The grieved father said that on Thursday evening he received text message from Hellen’s friend in Canada informing him that his daughter had drowned in a swimming pool.
Moments later, he received another call from Hellen’s friend informing him that she had been pronounced dead on arrival to hospital.
Nyabuto has further denied allegations that his child had a premonition of her death. He disclosed that Hellen never shared with him any information that suggested she was in distress or any form of trouble.
Kenyans on social media banded together to send their condolences to her family.
