Death Toll Rises to 8 as Three More Succumb After Consuming Illicit Brew in Nakuru

Panic has hit residents of Kabatini area in Bahati Constituency, Nakuru County after three more people lost their lives while receiving treatment. On Tuesday, five were confirmed dead after consuming illicit brew.

According to The County Executive Committee (CEC) Member in charge of Health Kariuki Gachuki confirmed that twelve people were hospitalized and were being managed for alcohol intoxication. The death toll now rises to eight as the fight against illicit brew continues.

Reports indicate that a large section of the youth and men have fallen victims to alcohol intoxication in Bahati Constituency. According to a resident from the area, male parents have prioritized alcohol consumption ahead of their family's welfare.

Illicit brewing in the country was banned several years ago. However, the illicit act is yet to be eliminated. Residents from the area are now calling on both the County Government and the National Government to wipe out the activity.
