Be Prepared for Heavy Downpour as KMD Warns of Rains in the Following Parts of Kenya From 31st Dec

The year ends in style and heavy rains could assure in new year's blessings according to a report by the Kenya Meteorological Department. KMD is focused in ensuring that people living in various parts across Kenya get reliable updates on the changing weather patterns expected during a certain duration of time. This has saved time and helped in planning of events that align with a particular weather forecast.

In their latest update, the Kenya Meteorological Department has provided a weather forecasting update from 31st December 2022 towards the first week of January 2023.

The forecast indicates that occasional rainfall is expected over some parts in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Coastal Strip, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley and the South Eastern Lowlands.

Morning and afternoon showers accompanied with sunny intervals are expected over some parts in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley including Nairobi County; Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Muranga, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi counties.

The nights are expected to be partly cloudy with a chance of night showers being experienced over some parts during the forecast period.

The maximum day time temperatures are expected to be as high as 27°C while minimum temperatures are expected to be as low as 06°C.

Afternoon showers and thunderstorms accompanied with evening and night showers are expected over some parts over the Lake Victoria Basin, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley and the Central and Southern Rift Valley; Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot.

The maximum temperatures are expected to be as high as 29°C while minimum temperatures are expected to be as low as 10°C.

Morning rains as well as afternoon and night showers are expected over some parts in the South Eastern Lowlands and the Coastal Strip; Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, Kajiado, Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale counties.

The expected changes are likely to have an effect in the disruption of both transportation and businesses activities.
