Turkana is highly known for insecurity, drought, floods and locust invasion. This has so far rendered the life in the region highly miserable.
Being nomadic pastoralists, they walk carrying AK-47 riffles whenever they go. This is due to the fact that there has been increased insecurity in the region. Immense cattle rustling has even seen the death of innocent people.
Furthermore, the health facilities are very scarce. Many medical practitioners fear being alocated to this region due to insecurity and general hardships. The few medical facilities may be overcriwded with victims of cattle rustling, pregnant women, and the elderly.
Drought and famine is always the talk of the day. Animals have died under the scorching sun due to little amount of water. Residents, animals and insects are always fighting for the little available water.
