The Kenya Meteorological Department monitors, predicts and provides early warning of extreme events in the country. Therefore, these aforementioned extreme events have negative impacts on humanity and property. This calls for the existence of an effective and efficient early weather warning system. Therefore early warning provides timely weather information that allows individuals, organisation or communities exposed to likely hazards take actions that avoids or reduces their exposure to risks.

The mandate of the KMD is to provide timely early warning weather and climate information for safety of life, protection of property and conservation of natural environment. This mandate is enchored on executive orders on the structure and organisation of the government of Kenya and World Meteorological Convention. The Convention also recognises the NMHSS to be the single and authoritative voice and source on matters of severe weather and climate events among WMO's member states.

Rainfall is expected to continue over few places in the Highlands West of Rift Valley and the Lake Victoria Basin. The rest of the country is likely to be generally dry though occasional rainfall is expected over several parts of the country.

Warm conditions are also expected over several parts of the country. Strong southeasterly winds with speed exceeding 25 knots are expected over several parts of the Coastal region, the Northeast, Northwest and the Southeastern lowlands.

Therefore the following parts of the country will receive heavy rainfall, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, Kericho, Nakuru, Bometi, Kisumu, Migori, Homabay, Busia, Kakamega, Meru, Narok, Kirinyaga, Embu and Machakos.
