The man who hanged on agriculture cabinet secretary peter munya's helicopter in Meru on Wednesday has been arrested.
The incident took place in kiegoi market after Munya held a public rally on the grounds, when the man hung precariously on the landing skid just as the chopper was prepared to take off.
In a statement on Thursday, Kenya civil aviation authority (KCAA) said the man has been apprehended and that due course shall follow.
"The culprit in this incident is in police custody and the Authority is coordinating with law enforcement agencies to ensure due course of the law as espoused in the Civil Aviation Act and Regulations," read part of the statement as quoted by citizen.
The authority further discouraged the act that is unfortunately gaining popularity at rallies warning that any person found past given proximities during a chopper's takeoff will face the law.
At the same time KCAA has urged the helicopter operater to always ensure that the choppers are in good conditions before they hire them out.
Moreso, they have been asked to enlist the services of police officers to ensure security of the helicopters on the ground.
The authority further reiterated that its the responsibility of the operator to ensure that recommended landing and taking off guidelines are strictly followed.
The arrested man will answer charges of going past proximities set when the helicopter was taking off.
