Mother And Daughter Arrested For Splashing Their 2-Day-Old Mentally Challenged Baby With Hot Water

A mother alongside her daughter has been arrested at Ndori, Siaya County for splashing their 2-day-old mentally challenged baby with hot water.

The mother identified as Esther Abidha, 34, and her daughter by sleuths from Directorate of Criminal Investigations from Bondo town following a tip-off from two locals who witnessed the barbaric act.

Bondo Sub-County Police commander Justus Oracha who commented on the matter said the 2-day-old was taken to Bondo District hospital for medical treatment.

The police boss said the infant sustained serious injuries on his stomach, legs, fingers and his back as a result of the hot water.

“Why do you give birth when are not ready to take care of the child. We arrested a mother and her daughter who pour hot water on their baby. The baby is curently receiving treatment at Bondo District hospital,"Justus.

According to the police boss, the woman wanted to kill the baby saying he is mentally challenged and she is not interested in taking care of mentally challenged baby.

The two are currently booked at Bondo town police station pending police investigations.
