Martha Karua's homecoming rally at Chania along Kerugoya Kutus highway was on Tuesday disrupted after a section of rowdy youths started chanting Ruto, UDA slogans.
This happened as Karua, who was accompanied by a number of Narc Kenya leaders and supporters made a stopover in the town to address residents.
A good number of residents who had lined up along the highway started chanting pro-Ruto slogans even as the MC tried in vain pleading with them to allow Martha to address them. Martha, who was onboard top of her car was forced to watch in disbelief as the youths took turns to shout each other down.
This comes at a time when Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua are today expected in Kirinyaga for a homecoming rally. Residents who donned red Jubilee and green Narc Kenya T-Shirts waited for Karua at the Sagana bridge a day after Raila picked her as his deputy.
Karua was accompanied by Kirinyaga deputy governor Peter Ndambiri and NARC Kenya Party officials who congratulated the former Cabinet minister for her nomination.
"I am proud that together with my brother Raila Odinga and all those who are with us, we have a truly unique opportunity and responsibility to take Kenya forward. Together, we can finally midwife the realization of so many dreams deferred" said Matha after her nomination on Monday.
