It was a sigh of relief for 43 owners of nightclubs in Nairobi after the administration of Governor Johnson Sakaja rescinded the decision to revoke their licenses.
The 43 entertainment joints were facing closure over noise pollution.Nairobi Deputy Governor Njoroge Muchiri has now directed the club owners to adhere to regulations, failure to which action will be taken against them.
The County Director of Liquor Licensing Hesbon Agwena stated in a memo to county security teams, health officials, and NACADA that the County Liquor Board had received complaints of noise pollution on licensed liquor premises from various residential areas and the general public, which lead to inspection due to non-compliance.
We have a duty and an obligation to ensure we create a conducive environment for businesses of all sizes to operate.”He further said that decentralizing the city into five boroughs as one of the plans that the new administration has will address a myriad of problems that have been troubling the hospitality sector.
