An Administration Police Officer attached to Ngethu Water Treatment plant in Kiambu sets himself ablaze on Monday at his home Muthuini Sub Location in Mwohoko area, Kieni West. According to police reports in Occurrence Book, OB, at Endarasha, Kanyagia Police Patrol Base In Nyeri County by the area Chief Lydia Wambui revealed that James Mwangi Nderitu was on a 7-day pass leave from August 2.
The police reports indicated that the officer was seen with his brother Joseph Gacheru Nderitu last at 9:30 am feeding his cow. They were also captured having a small conservation before the officer went to his house only for the smoke to be seen coming from his house by one Fredrick Nderitu who alerted the neighbours.
When they arrived at the scene, they found the main door and that of his bedroom locked from the inside. Police reports revealed that the motive of the suicide is not yet revealed but a suicide note was found from the scene. The deceased was rushed taken to Mary Immaculate mortuary as postmortem looms.
