CS Kagwe Announces New Time For Bar Operators to Close Their Operations

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has announced that all drinking joints selling liquor will be operational until 11 pm.

The announcement came a day after the National Police Service directed bar operators countrywide that their premises will be required to shut operations by 7 pm despite President Uhuru Kenyatta's directive on the listing of curfew.

The announcement by CS Kagwe serves as a reprieve to thousands of alcohol lovers across the country who felt that the 7p curfew cap is brutal,

Kagwe spoke at the Ministry of Health offices in Nairobi where he also gave a report on the status of the Covid-19 situation in the country.

On Wednesday, during the Mashujaa Day celebrations held in Kirinyaga County, President Uhuru Kenyatta vacated the 10 pm to 4 pm curfew he had imposed weeks ago to curb the spread of the virus.

The President noted that the fall in the number of Covid-19 cases and subsequent increase in the number of Kenyans vaccinated made it necessary to lift the curfew to allow Kenyans to eke out a living.
