Yesterday the country celebrated Mashujaa day celebrations. 220 Citizens were crowned as being Heroes and heroines. As individuals who have been selfless in serving the society. As individuals who have represented Kenya in the international forums and those who have risked their lives to save lives in the hour of need.
One such citizens is young primary school girl from kisumu who risked riding a boat in crocodile infested water carrying her pregnant mother. It was her first time riding a boat and at one time she did not know what to do. She explained how she was able to push the boat and it started moving before hoping into it. On attempting to propel it forward the boat was going in a zigzag direction, explained Virginia Aoko.
Her narration goes ahead to thank the president for having a hospital not far from where they lived hence making it on time despite all struggles in the waters and at night. Doctors informed her that she saved her mother as any longer wait would have costed her, her life and that of the unborn child. Virginia was named a heroine and crowned yesterday.
