A man was detained in Molo in November 2021 on suspicion of murdering a businesswoman who had been missing for a few days.
When the woman who owned a business in the surrounding town went missing, Kiprotich was apprehended and brought detectives to where he had buried her along the Molo River.
According to Joseph Mumira, the CCIO in Baringo, detectives are also looking into the possibility that the serial murderer was motivated to kill people by a cult he had joined.
This afternoon, the self-confessed serial killer led officers to other locations where he claimed to have buried 14 more victims.
The local Member of County Assembly dispatched an excavator to the location, but no bodies were found.
After being questioned about why he was chopping down trees in an adjacent forest, Moses Kiprotich confessed to killing a forest guard with whom he had an encounter.
The inquiry is complicated, according to the County Criminal Officer, because there is no missing persons report to aid the police in positively identifying the serial killer's victims.
