A 24-year-old guy named Chris Walsall was found guilty of the brutal murder of Swedish missionary Lilian Bourcart, 74, and was given a 90-year prison sentence by a high court in Kitale.
According to a K24 news source, Wanjala, a Swedish Missionary employee, was convicted guilty of killing his former employer by force after pulling her to bed at night.
The victim's relative discovered the suspect on top of the victim around midnight, and he immediately phoned the police, according to the prosecution desk's testimony in court.
The victim was interviewed prior to her passing, and she described how the accused had been pressuring her anytime she was left home alone.
She also described how the accused took her to the bedroom and began to remove her pants on Sunday at an unknown time, following a fight between her children and the departure of their mother. Fortunately, he was stopped before he could complete the act, she said.
Eyewitnesses who saw the crime being committed confirm it to the court, stating that it occurred on multiple times in the months of November and December at an unknown hour while the suspect was left alone with the victim.
The defendant was also accused on a second count of engaging in inappropriate behavior with an elderly woman who resembled her mother. Investigation revealed that the guy was the sole person raising the child since his ex-wife left him many years ago and had no real means of support.
In response to the occurrence, the commissioner for women's issues and social welfare reaffirmed her commitment to seeing that the victim received justice.
The prosecution presented evidence before Chief Magistrate Julius Ng'arng'ar under the direction of Senior Principal Prosecution Counsel (SPPC) Joyce Mumu.
Wanjala was given a 90-year prison term by the magistrate, who explained that it was intended to be a deterrence, retaliation, and rehabilitative given the ferocity of the crime. In order to assess his age, Dominic Nyongesa, Wanjala's co-accused, had his sentencing postponed.
