A 76-year-old grandfather found dead after being trampled to death by marauding elephants, Laikipia West Constituency.
The discovery was made from Sirare village in Laikipia West Constituency was on Thursday morning.
Mzee Githua Waeru Kamoche, was one of the many locals who came out to drive away the killer elephants that had raided their plantations on Thursday morning, but the beasts ganged up against him before killing him.
Mzee Waweru fought fearlessly with one of the beasts that trampled him to death.
The incidents prompted locals to stripe in protests following Mr Waweru's death and frequent losses brought about by the animals in their farms.
They paralysed transport system along the Nyahururu-Rumuruti roads for four hours demonstrating the death of the man, before police officers intervened to calm them.
Joseph Lobenyo and Geoffrey Kamiru, both village elders from Sirare area commented over the incident.
The body of the deceased was transferred to the hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
