There was panic and fear at the famous Likoni Ferry channel after an accident occurred involving two ferries.
On Saturday, mid-morning, Likoni residents experienced a near death experience after MV Likoni collided with MV Jambo while crossing passengers from both ends of the Likoni channel.
The two ferries were fully packed when the incident happened and was it not for the quick response from the emergency teams at the scene, a worse situation would have occurred.
MV Jambo was crossing passengers towards the south coast side while MV Likoni was going the opposite direction.
Eye witnesses on site revealed that the two ferries were too close to each other and within no time, they crashed with a huge impact.
Passengers on board of were forced to wait for over 45minutes before recovery team arrived and sorted the issue. No passenger nor the crew were hurt during the incident.
