The National Police Service has been doing its best to deal with the bandit situation in the country for the past few months as per the reports that we have with us.
The North Rift Counties in the country have been affected adversely by the bandit activities where many people have lost their lives while thousands of livestock has been stolen.
The deployment of the Kenya Defense Forces has done little to alleviate the situation as more deaths have been witnessed in the area.
However, the Interior Security Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki announced a new approach to dealing with the bandits in the North Rift and this has born some fruits.
This afternoon, according to the available reliable reports that we have with us from the National Police Service, the officers have recovered two assault rifles that were surrendered.
This follows the new approach that has been employed by the bandits in the area as per the reports that we have with us from the area.
Here is a statement from the National Police Service, "Operation Maliza Uhalifu North Rift is underway, the deployment of new strategies has provided the necessary push for meeting the intent of the Operation to end the banditry in the North Rift region.
Yesterday, on the 12th of March 2023, the Multi-Agency Security Team in Baringo County are said to have recovered two AK-47 rifles surrendered by elders from Nawe Village in Barkateu Sub-Location."
