Kenya Police Gets New Spokesperson In Their New Changes

Police spokesperson Resila Atieno Onyango

Changes announced yesterday on Monday, November 7 have selected a new spokesman for the National Police Service.

Bruno Shioso; who was promoted and appointed commander of the National Police Service Training Campus in Kiganjo was succeeded by Dr. Resila Atieno Onyango.

Shioso took over for Japheth Koome; the next inspector general of police.

As a result of the adjustments made, acting IGP Noor Gabow called Philip Ndolo; the college's deputy commandant back to the police headquarters.

Manase Musyoka, the Central Regional Police Commander (RPC) was transferred to the Nairobi area in the adjustments.

James Mugera was succeeded by Musyoka once he reached retirement age.

Lydia Ligami will take over as the new RPC for Central while Paul Langat was moved to Western to take over for Peris Muthoni; who resigned from the military.

Cathrene Mugwe was also selected by Gabow as the staff officer in charge of training at police headquarters.

He described the adjustments as typical efforts to improve operations in the impacted areas.

Many people are confident in the ability of the new leaders,; who are seasoned officers.

More changes are anticipated starting next month once Koome assumes the position of IGP; according to officials.

At the Directorate of Criminal Investigations where DCI Mohamed Amin is still reorganizing the organization, more changes are also anticipated.

Koome and Amin; who are both new to their jobs, will strive to place men and women in roles they think would support their agendas.

As the service is experiencing an image crisis due to allegations of extrajudicial executions and other types of abuse, the attention switches to Resila, who shows up at the office.

The news of Resila's new position filled her with excitement.

"With your help and that of all stakeholders, we will deliver. We are prepared and require your assistance, " she added.
