The deceased identified as John Onyango, 38, disappeared from his home on July 16, 2021 in Orengo area.
A missing person report was filed at Amoyo area police line with his family members after he failed to show up on Sunday.
His body was discovered by his wife, Helen Onyango, 32, who later raised alarm attracting the attention of the members of the public.
Orengo area chief Michael Oluoch who confirmed the incident said the unfortunate incident left the whole village in shock.
"We suspect he might have been murdered somewhere else and his body transferred in his compound overnight. He was a kind gentleman, very hardworking and God fearing. I believe justice shall prevail," said Michael, the area chief.
According to the widow, Onyango went missing on Friday evening shortly after coming back home.
"It was on Friday, he came back home bathed and took his tea. I pleaded with him to have arrest but he left saying that he is going to have a drink with his friends in Wichlum when he was found dead on Wednesday morning," Ms Onyango said.
Mr Onyango worked as a driver for Usenge-Bondo Sacco. He was blessed with two children, boy and girl aged 13 and 15 respectively.
His body was moved to Bondo District hospital mortuary pending autopsy.
