Samia Suluhu Orders The Return Of The Big-Bellied Police To Training.
Wednesday, 17th August 2022, Nairobi Kenya.
Tanzania president Samia Suluhu has directed that police officers with large stomachs have to return to training in order to lose weight.
In remarks to mark the conclusion of the training of policemen in Boma Kichaka Miba, in Tanga, President Suluhu said that police officers should not have enormous bellies in order for them to be effective at executing their tasks.
"As I was watching the procession, I saw big-bellied officers among the veteran officers who were leading the march. I've observed large bellies. Officers with large stomachs are not permitted," she stated.
She advised the police in issue to return to the training center and receive new instruction to get them in shape.
The leader of Kenya's southern neighbor continued, "They should come back here for training so that they shed them off and be quick again in carrying out their tasks."
In March of last year, President John Pombe Magufuli passed away, and Ms.Suluhu became the presidency.
Her remarks came two months after she fired the nation's Inspector General of Police and sent him as an envoy to Zimbabwe.
Simon Sirro was fired by Suluhu on the evening of July 19, 2022, according to local media, amid rumors that he had a dismal track record with respect to human rights.
Suluhu was included in Time Magazine's list of The 100 Most Influential People of 2022 in May.
In an article for the magazine, former president of Liberia Ellen Johnson Sirleaf praised Ms. Suluhu as a leader who has allowed political enemies to communicate with one another in order to restore faith in the democratic system.
Women and girls now have a new role model thanks to efforts to strengthen press freedom, Ms. Sirleaf wrote.
