Tom Okwach Body Retrieved From Abimbo Mine 7 Months after Tragedy

It is great news to the Family in Siaya county as the body of miner in Abimbo gold mine in Siaya county finally retrieved.

The brother of Tom Okwach, Fred Ogunde has confirmed the recovery of the body bringing closure and a great relief to the family.

The aquarium remains were retrieved on Sunday following the endless efforts of 15 artisanal miners.

He was among eight miners who were buried alive after the ill-fated Gold mine partially collapsed in December.

six people were rescued alive and two bodies were retrieved from the mine with the family of Tom Okwatch still optimistic that the body of their kin will be retrieved.

This would enable them to have a much sought-after closure 100 meters from the Abimbo gold mine that caved in on nine people in December 2021.

Tom okwach and nine other artisans were buried alive when the shaft caved in trapping them several feet underneath eight were rescued from the gold mine alive

Tom Okwach is the second person who unluckily never made it alive in the tragedy.
