Nominated Inspector General Of Police Japhet Koome who is set to replace Hillary Mutyambai has today appeared before the National Assembly Committee to be vetted has weighed in one excessive alcohol consumption among the young people and has said if the issue is not carefully looked into we might lose the future generations of this country.
The former Commandant at Police Training School, Kiganjo, said if approved by the two houses, he would prioritise the fight against drug abuse in the country. He also said he will work closely with Nacada to ensure that the youths are not extremely consumed with this addiction.
"The illicit brew is a big challenge. Our youths must stop this liking for drinking alcohol, they are drinking too much. This must be managed, or we are going to lose our country and new generation, If you approve my recommendations, I will not wait for CEO NACADA, I will go to his office and discuss with him," Koome stated.
