Deadly Fire as Ruiri Girls and Ndagene Boys Becomes First Schools Under CS Machogu to Burn Dorms

Ruiri girls and Ndagene Boys in Meru County have become the first Secondary to experience fire outbreak under New Education CS Ezekiel Machogu.

Dormitory of Ruiri girls which is situated in Buuri Constituency dormitory is said to have engulfed on fire yesterday evening while students were taking their evening meals.

However, the Fire department from Meru Country acted fast after receiving a call and contained the fire before it made huge damages.

Currently, a dormitory at Ndagene Boys situated in Imenti South in the same county is on fire.

The fire is said to have occurred while the students were having their evening meals.

The cause of the two fires is yet to be determined as investigations commences.

Kenyan Education sector for decades has had to deal with fire outbreaks caused by rogue students who majorly do so while protesting.

In some instances, fire outbreaks in schools has left to casualties with students losing their lives.

In 2017, a fire outbreak at Moi Girls Kibra, Nairobi left 10 students dead after a student burned a dormitory while protesting her oarents decision not to transfer her from the school.

The girl could later be jailed fir five years after the court found her guilty of the murders.
