It has been stated that the lawyers working for Azimio have split into three groups, each of which is responsible for a different aspect of the larger effort to get enough evidence together to convince the Supreme Court judges to overturn William Samoei Arap Ruto's victory.
According to people with knowledge of the Azimio lawyers who talked with the Nation newspaper, the Azimio battery of lawyers is divided into subgroups that specialize in various legal matters.
The first group is reportedly on the home stretch before tomorrow's 2 pm Supreme Court deadline to file the suit. Prof. Tom Ojienda, Daniel Maanzo, Otiende Amollo, and Mutula Kilonzo Jnr. are just a few of the seasoned legal minds at the helm of this group.
Pheroze Nowrojee, Phillip Murgor, James Orengo, and Amos Wako, four senior counsels, will lead the second team, which plans to challenge the IEBC and focus on the commission's alleged weaknesses, such as the tampering and manipulation of voters' register, before presenting an audit report by the consulting firm KPMG.
It has been stated that a third team is conducting investigations and gathering data to support claims of electoral fraud and misconduct. Paul Mwangi, Mr. Odinga's longtime legal advisor, and constitutional lawyer are in charge of this group. This camp is lobbying the Supreme Court to rule that Ruto's election as president was invalid.
