A family in Bomet is helpless after Tenwek hospital detained the body of their kin until full hospital bill payment is made.
Winnie Chepngetich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rono alias Cheronye has been battling heart disease for a long. On 28th June, she was admitted to the hospital for surgery. The surgery went successful but days later while still admitted to the facility, she developed complications resulting from the surgery and died.
The family hopes to rest his soul at their home but the wish has hit a rock bottom after the facility demanded full payment of the shillings 950,000 before the body is released.
They have planned a fundraiser to help offset the bill. They are also pleading with the area leaders to come to their rescue. The fundraiser has been slated for 13th July at her home Kabiangek village, Boito ward.
"We are requesting anybody including our leaders to help us give our daughter a decent send-off. If her body remains at the facility the family will not have peace of mind and she'll only be released to us if we clear the sh.950,000," Kipkirui Siele a family member said .
