There was drama at the Royal Media Service offices after police officers stormed in and arrested a politician for allegedly impersonating a police officer.
According to the report by the National Police Service, officers based at Kilimani Police Station today received information about an ongoing interview at Inooro TV, where an alleged police officer in uniform was one of the panellists.
Police stormed the station and nabbed the woman who was wearing a police blue uniform. It was later revealed that the woman was not a policewoman, but a civilian.
"Police officers rushed to the TV station from where they arrested Monica Wamaitha Gitau, a civilian and an aspirant for the Nairobi Women MP seat in full police uniform," the police report read in part.
NPS noted that the suspect is currently in custody, "assisting with investigations for the offence of impersonating a police officer."
NPS has since asked all media houses to reach out to the Police Spokesperson or respective regional or county commanders over all requests for interviews with police officers.
