Former Chief Justice David Maraga has sued Senior Counsel and Constitutional lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi over what he terms as defamation.
The ex-CJ in a lawsuit claimed the lawyer nicknamed "The Grand Mullah" circulated a defamatory, libelous, and scandalous tweet on January 12, which was aimed at tarnishing his good name.
The suit shows that Lawyer Ahmed Nasir, in a tweet indicated that CJ Maraga was aware of and had knowledge of a Senior Judge of the Supreme Court who had collected a bribe of Sh220, 000,000
In response, taking to his verified page, Ahmednasir has since threatened to expose the "biggest bribe in the Supreme court", claiming that the said "Senior Judge of the Supreme Court" had falsified the valuation report for a piece of land, over which a "huge compensation" was paid by the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).
The senior counsel also penned a disparaging article in a local newspaper criticizing Maraga's term at the helm of the Judiciary, saying he was the least qualified for the job.
