Deputy President Rigati Gachagua appealed to well-meaning Kenyans to donate a portion of their paychecks to help combat the country's drought.
During the opening of the National Steering Committee on Drought Response, Gachagua called on Kenyans and other stakeholders to provide life-saving assistance to those affected.
Gachagua found that many people had completely lost their livelihoods and coping mechanisms and were heavily dependent on assistance to meet their basic needs.
The ongoing drought underscores the effects of global warming and climate change.
