The grace period for the regularization of non-compliant developments lapsed on 1st December 2022. My government will now act to enforce safety measures on the developments that did not respond to our call within the given time.
I therefore wish to state clearly that non-compliant construction will be penalized and prosecuted according to the law. We must restore sanity.
It is also my humble appeal to construction workers to avoid working on sites that have been served with stop orders (Spray-Marked) to avoid the risk associated with working in such irregular projects.
My Government also urges professional consultants involved in development sites to work together with my administration to ensure the buildings are certified safe by submitting all the necessary documentation through our digital portal.
For this enforcement exercise and to avoid impersonation of the Building Inspectors, we will publish a list of all the building inspectors for the members of the public to peruse.
