According to her mother, the young girl was found early in the morning shivering by the riverside. The mother told this writer that she could not speak nor stand on her own.
"My form two daughter who was set for an examination was missing from her room. I called people and we started following up only to find her sited by the riverside early in the morning and she could not talk," She said.
Thomas Sagwe her father said it was established that his daughter was picked from her room at around 3 am. He says he received a phone call from his wife informing him of a missing daughter.
"I had left for my daily duties only to be called back by my wife that my daughter cant be traced. We immediately started a search with the help of villagers and we found her near a river shivering.," He said.
According to the clan Elder Mr. Samuel Nyambane, the witches picked the daughter through the window. He said such cases are common in the area.
Villagers have condemned the incident saying witches should respect school-going children for they are tomorrow's leaders. They have vowed to mercilessly deal with the involved culprits should they be found.
According to the traditional practice of the Abagusii community, When such happens, all villagers are lined to spat on the victim until she speaks. The person who spits at her and she immediately speaks is the culprit.
