Dr James Gakara, accused of killing his two children by injecting them with a poisoned needle before attempting to commit suicide, then died in hospital and was buried on Tuesday.
Gakara was buried in the same grave while his two children Dylan (5) and Karuana (3) were buried together in the same grave at their home in Muririchwa area of Gilgil sub-county.
A friend of the family said that there were plans to bury all three bodies in the same grave but they changed their minds to reduce the size of the slab.
No soil was thrown into the tomb after the coffins were placed inside.
Family and friends gathered at the stadium for a funeral before heading home for a private party.
As he spoke at the funeral, the widow of the late Winnie Adhiambo celebrated Gakara as a brave man with "the best spirit"
She told her two favorite stories 'Donkey in the well' and 'the ugly wolf and the three little pigs' that her late husband loved to read to his children.
Daughter of the deceased from a previous marriage, Agnes Njeri said that Gakara was her father, mentor and friend.
"My father made sure I got the best education, I enjoyed his presence and no matter what happened, he will remain my friend" Njeri said.
Njeri said that he enjoyed the time they were with his late brothers Dylan and Karuana.
