A security operation in Nakuru to flush out members of the dreaded confirm gang that killed 5 women and burnt some of them within days is currently ongoing.
So far, 27 suspects have been arrested. Crude weapons including machetes, metal rods and pieces of wood suspected to have been used in the murders were recovered from the suspects.
5 of the arrested suspects aged 19 to 23 years were nabbed in the Jasho area of Nakuru as they staged an attack.
Another 22 aged between 20 to 30 years were arrested in the Mawingo area which is the epicenter of the operations.
The arrest came after one suspected member of the gang was lynched by an angry mob last evening after a failed robbery attempt. The gang members attempted to snatch mobile phones from people. One was beaten and burnt while another was hit by a vehicle while trying to escape. A third one escaped with injuries.
Interior CS Dr Fred Matiangi ordered security organs to intensify their operations in Nakuru and beyond so as to bring to an end the criminal gangs which have continued to increase tension among residents in Nakuru.
