Principal Secretary nominee Julius Korir is a man under siege after he was accused of beating his pregnant wife over food. Korir's estranged wife yesterday explained to the court how the events took place in their house. Evelyn Koech told Milimani Senior Resident Magistrate Caroline Muthoni that she was almost due with her second child when the husband descended on her with kicks and blows.
That she was in the bedroom trying to put their first born to sleep when the husband entered the children's bedroom shouting. He then asked for the food and told her that she will have a rough day. He then started slapping her as she tried to protect her unborn baby. This is regarding a case that was presented in court for an assault of 17 September 2020.
She added that the workers were there watching as the husband tore her clothes and beat her to almost a point of death. That he had threatened the workers that they should not intervene. After beating her, she drove her to Nairobi hospital for treatment.
