Two minors were yesterday killed by a hand grenade that explode after mistaking it for a home-made ball.
One of the kids lost his life on the spot and the other, who sustained injuries, died while being rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.
Police reports seen by the press revealed that kids were playing outside the house at Dabaso Huka Golicha when the explosive, which they mistook for a a home-made ball, went off at about 5pm.
It was not revealed whether the boys picked the explosive device by the roadside and took home or it had been dropped to target Mr Huka’s family.
Sources privy to the alleged report revealed that the device was a hand grenade as pellet holes on some items in the compound and iron sheets were seized next to the kid's body by bomb experts who toured site.
The unfortunate report has been connected to February’s recovery of an AK-47 rifle, two hand grenades together with 234 rounds of ammunition and the apprehension of two suspects who were ferrying the weapons in a van along Yamicha-Duma road.
Isiolo County Commissioner Geoffrey Omoding whp confirmed the incident said investigations are underway to determine where the explosive device came from.
