Murder

Why Was He Released? DCI Has Established that Serial Killer Had Been Freed after Previous Arrest

Evans Wanjala, a serial killer and pedophile suspected of defiling and murdering five young girls between December 31, 2019, and June 15, 2021, has been arrested. According to DCI, the suspect had previously been arrested on grounds of defiling two minors in Kibwezi in 2018 but was later released on bond. Kenyans have elicited their concerns on how courts handle such serious offenders. Most of them feel that such people should not be granted bonds.

The criminal operating within Moi’s Bridge in Uasin-Gishu county is said to have abducted the underage girls one by one between the aforementioned dates and then took them to secluded areas. Thereafter, he went ahead to do the unthinkable by defiling and then strangling them to death.

The five victims identified as Mary Elusa, 14, Grace Njeri, 12, Stacy Nabiso, 10, Linda Cherono, 13 and Lucy Wanjiru, 15 met their fate after the suspect lured them one by one before ending their lives.

The suspect replicated the same mode of operation in all the five incidences; abducting, defiling, murdering and dumping the victims in unvisited areas. The suspect is currently in police custody awaiting trial.
